Terms

Version 1.0 · Last updated 17 October 2026

These terms cover the motion design and video work Mirage (“Mirage”, “we”, “us”) does for you (“you”, meaning you and the business you represent), whether that is a single project or an ongoing retainer. They apply whenever a proposal you accept refers to them. A proposal is the written scope, fee and schedule we agree with you before any work begins.

Sending us an enquiry or booking an intro call doesn’t commit you to anything. Nothing is ordered and nothing is owed until you accept a proposal.

We work with businesses only. By accepting a proposal, you confirm you’re acting for a business and are authorised to agree to these terms on its behalf.

What we do

Services
We make launch videos, launch campaigns, product demo videos, show reels and motion systems. That covers the whole process: concept, script, storyboard, design, animation, editing and sound.
Your scope
Exactly what’s included, such as deliverables, formats, cut-downs and versions, is listed in your proposal. If it isn’t in the proposal, it isn’t included yet.
Distribution, influencer marketing and 3D
We also handle distribution, influencer marketing and fully 3D productions. These are quoted separately, and the cost depends on the scope and creative direction we agree in your proposal.
Not included
Unless your proposal says otherwise, we don’t do live-action filming or paid media buying. We’re happy to recommend partners for these. Any partner works under its own agreement with you, and is paid and responsible for its own work.

Proposals, fees and payment

Proposals
If we’re a good fit after the intro call, we send a proposal with the scope, fee, payment schedule, timeline and revision rounds. Work begins once you accept it in writing and any upfront payment has arrived.
Fixed fees
The fee for the agreed scope doesn’t change. If you ask for more work or a change that affects the fee or timeline, we agree it with you in writing before starting.
Retainers
For ongoing work, a monthly retainer sets out the capacity, fee and term in your proposal. A retainer doesn’t mean unlimited videos, and it never renews or continues without your written agreement.
Currency, taxes and bank fees
Fees are quoted and invoiced in US dollars (USD). They exclude taxes unless your proposal says otherwise, and applicable taxes are added as the law requires. A bank transfer counts as paid when the full amount reaches us, and any charges from your bank are yours.
Late payments
Late payments delay the project. Work and deliveries pause until the payment arrives, and the timeline moves back by the length of the delay.

How a project runs

Kickoff
Once the proposal is accepted, we hold a kickoff session to agree the brief, priorities and the dates we need your materials and feedback.
Communication
We work remotely through a shared Slack channel, with email and calls when they help. Most of our clients are in the US, so we keep regular overlap with US working hours, and we reply within one working day.
Timelines
A launch video usually takes 2–3 weeks, and a product demo or explainer 1–2 weeks. These are estimates, not guaranteed dates. Late materials or feedback, extra revisions and scope changes can move them, and we’ll tell you as soon as anything shifts.
Requests we can’t take on
We may decline a request that falls outside our services, or that would break the law or someone else’s rights.

Approvals and revisions

Stage by stage
You approve the script before we storyboard, and the storyboard before we animate. Approvals are given in writing, in Slack or by email. Silence doesn’t count as approval.
Script and storyboard
Revisions to the script and storyboard are unlimited. We keep refining until you’re happy and confirm them.
Animation
Once you confirm the storyboard, animation includes 3 rounds of revisions. Further rounds, new deliverables, or changes that depart from the confirmed script and storyboard are change requests, which we price and schedule with you before going ahead.

What we need from you

Materials and feedback
You provide the brand guidelines, assets, product access, information and feedback we need, on the dates we agree. Delays on your side move the timeline accordingly.
Your rights
You confirm you have the right to use everything you send us. If a third party makes a claim against us because of those materials, such as logos, footage, music or product claims, you cover the resulting costs, including reasonable legal fees.

Pausing and cancelling

Pausing
You can pause a project or retainer by letting us know in Slack or by email. Timelines move back by the length of the pause. Any effect on payments is set out in your proposal, and a pause doesn’t automatically change your payment schedule.
Cancelling
You can cancel a project or retainer at any time by letting us know in Slack or by email. There’s no minimum term on retainers. You pay for work completed up to that point, and once animation has started on a video, its fee isn’t refundable. A single project ends when the agreed deliverables are delivered.
Unfinished work
Work in progress at cancellation is handled as your proposal describes. It isn’t delivered as a finished, approved video.

Refunds and payment disputes

Refund terms
Once animation has started on a video, payments for that video are non-refundable. Before that point, any refund is handled as set out in your proposal.
Requesting a refund
Email hello@mirage.global or message us in Slack. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days, unless your proposal says otherwise.
Payment disputes
If a charge looks wrong, please contact us first and give us 14 days to sort it out before disputing it with your bank. While a payment is disputed or reversed, work pauses and your right to use the related deliverables is suspended until it’s resolved.
Your legal rights
Nothing here limits a refund or remedy you’re entitled to by law.

Ownership and usage

Your final videos
Once a video is approved and delivered, you can use it for your business as long as your payments are up to date. Full ownership of the approved final videos passes to you once the engagement is paid in full.
Source files
Project and source files for your final videos, such as After Effects or Figma files, are included at no extra cost. We hand them over once the engagement is paid in full.
Third-party assets
Fonts, music, stock footage and sound effects are licensed under their own terms for use in your video. We only use commercially licensed material, and we check with you before using anything that costs extra.
Our working materials
Unused concepts, drafts, templates, tools and internal production methods remain ours unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Portfolio
We show every project we make. Once you’ve publicly released the work, we may share it, with your name and logo, on our website, socials and portfolio. If you need the work kept out of our portfolio, or want us to sign an NDA, that’s available for an extra fee agreed in your proposal.

Confidentiality

Keeping things private
We keep your unreleased product details, materials and anything you mark as confidential private. We share them only with team members and vendors who need them for your project and are bound by confidentiality. If you need a signed NDA, we can sign yours for an extra fee, as described under Ownership and usage.
Who makes your video
Your project is handled by our team of motion designers, animators and sound designers. Sometimes we collaborate with trusted external vendors, who work under the same confidentiality terms.

Results and liability

Results
We design every video to perform, but views, sign-ups and sales depend on things outside our control, like distribution and timing, so we can’t guarantee them.
Liability
As far as the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 4 weeks before it, and we aren’t liable for indirect losses such as lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited.

Ending an engagement

When we may end it
We may end an engagement if payments remain unpaid, if either side seriously breaches these terms, or if continuing would be unlawful. Amounts due are settled as your proposal sets out.
If we end it for another reason
We refund the unused part of any fees you’ve paid in advance, and you won’t owe anything for work we won’t be doing.

Changes, law and the small print

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future work. Changes never alter an active engagement without your agreement: the version you agreed to keeps applying. The latest version is always on this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. We’ll always try to resolve any issue with you directly first. If we can’t, disputes go to the courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Whole agreement
These terms and your accepted proposal are the full agreement between us. If they ever conflict, your proposal wins.
Everything else
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we haven’t given it up. You can’t transfer this agreement without our written consent. We work as an independent contractor, not as your employee, partner or agent. We aren’t responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, and any affected dates move accordingly. Notices can be given by email or in our shared Slack channel.
